Join us for an empowering summit designe d specifically for parents and educators\, aimed at fostering a safer envi ronment for our children and students. Sexual violence and harassment rema ins a pressing issue affecting individuals of all ages\, and it’s imperati ve that we equip ourselves with the knowledge and tools to address it effe ctively.
\nThis summit will feature insightful talks\, workshops and activities led by YCC staff and experts in the field of sexual assault pr evention and awareness. Participants will have the opportunity to engage i n meaningful conversations\, share experiences\, and learn practical strat egies for promoting safety and supporting survivors. When survivor s of sexual violence open up about their experiences\, they are often conf ronted with the question\, “What were you wearing?” as though their clothi ng choice could justify the assault. YCC’s “What Were You Wearing ” exhibit challenges the misconception that clothing invites sexual assaul t by amplifying the voices of survivors within our local community.

Bigelow Po p-up Art Exhibit (April 12\, 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.): Held at the historic Bigelow building\, this marquee event features art from YCC’s “Resilience Lab.” The display explores emotional self-reflection after trauma through self-portraits created by survivors. These works demonstrate how specific emotions manifest during the healing process and invite the public to bear witness to the journey of recovery.
